real wedding –  Intimate Casual City restaurant wedding at Timberyard, Edinburgh

24 February 2023

We’re sharing the most perfect intimate restaurant wedding today that celebrated time with family friends in a beautiful setting. Expertly captured in an easy modern style by Nikki Leadbetter. We can hear from the bride, Hannah herself:

“After having to cancel our larger scale wedding in Perthshire due to the pandemic, we still wanted to support local Scottish businesses. We want to achieve an intimate and casual theme where we could have our closest family and friends enjoy great food and a great city after 2 years of lockdowns.

We were planning a big day 130 + the thought of having to uninvite people due to number restrictions broke our hearts. The societal pressures of having a big wedding also made the decision to have a smaller wedding more difficult, it felt at the time that the ‘childhood dream’ had been taken away, but I was so wrong.

The Timberyard was just perfect, the venue was just beautiful, the food fabulous. Our humanist Susan Flemming told our story, so eloquently our guests thought she was a family friend, the flowers just stunning and Fraser provide the perfect American jazz soundtrack to the day. This was all rounded off with Nikki capturing the pure emotion in the room. We would have never of thought to have such a small wedding, but the more we reflect on the day the more we see how perfect it was for us.

We would say to other couples reflect on why you are having a wedding before booking and don’t dismiss a smaller wedding thinking it won’t be as fun, as we did, and we were so wrong. The photos capture the pure happiness on the day! Nikki was just amazing at catching the pure emotion of the day.

When asked for their favourite part of the wedding, Hannah said eventually having all their family & friends in one spot was the highlight.
