real wedding –  Felice & Tobias’ Autumnal Drumtochty Castle Wedding, with Hermione de Paula dress

7 April 2022

Felice and Tobias got engaged while visiting Scotland in 2018, and knew straight away that that’s where they wanted to get married. Their Drumtochty Castle wedding, spread over 3 days to spend plenty of time with all of their guests, was everything they’d dreamed of, and luckily we have the images (and video) from Harper Scott to show it.

Their colour palette was inspired by the rich tones of autumn. Their florist, Kim Dalglish, worked with these tones in abundant arrangements for bouquets, the table centrepieces, and stunning floral arches for both their reception venue and the church.

This autumnal styling carried into the outfits, too, with Tobias and his groomsmen in tweed suits and Felice in a Hermione de Paula wedding dress. Both Felice and Tobias worked custom details into their dress – Felice, along with her mum and sister, worked with Hermione de Paula on a bespoke colourway for the detailing on the back, and Tobias’s suit was tailormade for him. To go with her dusky pink velvet shoes, she found one-shouldered, draped velvet bridesmaids dresses, and made her flowergirls’ accessories, headbands and bows, to match too.

As well as leaning into an aesthetic of cosiness, Felice and Tobias also prioritised intimacy in their table plan. “We both love being in each others’ company, and had been told so many times by previous couples that moments just the two of you are few and far between on the day.” Felice explains. “So for our table plan we kept the top table to ourselves. We both wanted to be able to get to spend some quality time together just the two of us and that seemed like the perfect moment. It really was, we were able to sit back and watch our loved ones enjoying themselves, we got to chat about the day so far, and make the final decision as to what song we were going to have for our First Dance. That was a really special part of the day for the both of us.”

“On the day we both loved being surrounded by all of our friends and family,” she continues. “After having to wait an extra year due to the pandemic, it was such a special moment to be able to share with everyone. We wanted everyone to feel relaxed and enjoy themselves; it was one of the first events we had all been to since the relaxing of covid restrictions, so it was one hell of a party!

To do this, music was important to them. At the ceremony, they had an organist, harpist and pianist. Then, for the reception: “One of our highlights was our wedding band, The Chaps Band. We saw them play in a bar at the Italian ski resort of Sauze d’Oulx, this was our 1st holiday together back in early 2016. When it came to picking a band for our wedding we knew it had to be them. They are incredibly talented musicians and the dance floor was packed all night, everyone loved them! Some of our guests were with us on that holiday so it was an amazing surprise for them when they came on.”
