real wedding –  Seun & Ben’s Lakeside Surrey Wedding at Amber Lakes, planned by Revelry Events

9 March 2022

Seun and Benedict had 2 weddings, both as stunning as the other: a London city centre ceremony and a Surrey wedding reception a few days later, planned by Revelry Events and shot by Nina Wernicke.

Their church ceremony took place the Wednesday before their Surrey wedding reception, in the stunning St Martin-in-the-Fields. “The church wedding was incredibly bare, and only attended by immediate family.” Ben explains. The images look so serene, you’d never be able to guess this architectural jewel of a venue was on the corner of Trafalgar Square, would you?

They held their symbolic ceremony the following Saturday, at the stunning Surrey wedding venue of Amber Lakes. Seun wore a stunning off-the-shoulder fishtail Enzoani dress, whilst Ben wore a suit by The Bespoke Tailor with a David Austen rose as a buttonhole. “We didn’t really have a theme,” Ben continues, “but given the venue was surrounded by water and nature, we stuck to that with the floral design, stationery etc.” They had their ceremony in a breathtaking lakeside location, with tall urns bursting with luxurious flowers framing a gap in the trees that showed the water beyond.

“One of the readings was from bell hooks ‘All About Love’. She has sadly passed away since, so it feels even more special in hindsight.”

Seun and Ben then celebrated with drinks with their family and friends, before they were given a heroes’ welcome into the reception. Tall floral arrangements studded each table, and each guest had a bespoke biscuit favour at their place setting. They had a massive four-tier wedding cake from M + H Cake Company, which was decorated with a rustic white buttercream and pink and peach blooms.

“In terms of planning, choosing the flowers and cake was our favourite bit,” Ben explains. (In terms of everything? “Getting married!”) “Hybrid were exceptional, as was Abigail at M + H Cake Company. Everyone loved the food – both Boulevard’s Middle Eastern feast and Angels’ Nigerian spread.”

After the cake-cutting, some exceptional speeches, and the delicious feast, Nina took Seun and Ben for their portraits session. Making the most of the Surrey wedding venue’s lakeside location, they hopped on a boat trip around the lake, as well as taking some stunning shots on the jetty and in the rolling greenery on the banks too.

When we asked Seun and Ben for their advice for couples in the planning process, they had this to say: “Trust your instincts and keep it simple!”
