styled by Spark Alice, shot by Lisa Jane –  Intimate, Nostalgic Wedding Styling at Brixton Wedding Venue 100 Barrington

24 March 2022

Brixton wedding venue 100 Barrington is a stunning blank canvas space with original brickwork, huge glass windows, and beautiful light – which Spark Alice Events, Lisa Jane Photography and the team made full use of for this intimate, nostalgia-inspired wedding look.

“The idea behind the shoot was to create a beautiful, intimate atmosphere, perfect for a small wedding and heavily inspired by red wine flowing dinner parties with candles burning down low.” Hannah, the founder and stylist at Spark Alice, explains.

“The colour palette was kept simple with antique white, red wine red and mustard yellow and our florist Blaise created a beautiful mix of dried and fresh flowers to compliment the mood.” Letters from Emily provided stationery and signage in this palette, too, with modern flower motifs and modern font to tie everything together.

“Showcasing A Lover’s Thread’s beautiful vintage dresses alongside my own collection of vintage tablewares, the shoot is a perfect example of how to be a little sustainable with your wedding planning.”

These modern, style-led, but ultimately nostalgic notes suit the Brixton wedding venue perfectly, as it’s an old furniture factory which originally opened in the 1800s. 100 Barrington is an ideal blank canvas space, with plenty of historic features restored for contemporary celebrations.

Plus, it has some incredible new things too – like that feature light fitting! ” The shoot was also delayed due to the building work happening at 100 Barrington (which was due to Covid).” Hannah recalls. “The venue were having a complete revamp that kept getting delayed and delayed and delayed. It was basically a building site until just before the shoot!”

Lisa Jane made the most of the features old and new when shooting, seeking out beams of sunlight that pooled through the industrial windows and capturing all of the detail, both little and large. As another fan of contemporary nostalgia, she shot on film and Polaroid as well as digitally, the results of which you can see in the gallery below (spoiler alert: they’re beautiful.)

As well as providing the gorgeous vintage wedding dresses, A Lover’s Thread also provided her signature embroidered hair ribbons, which Jenni Davis tied around messy buns and a wavy bridal ponytail for a subtle yet stylish finishing touch. A wider ribbon was also used to tie around the bouquet.

Whether you’re looking for a Brixton wedding venue, nostalgic wedding styling inspiration or a talented wedding photographer, we think this shoot has it all. See the gallery below for more, and make sure to check out the suppliers who made it happen too.
