real wedding –  Soho House Wedding With Vintage Inspiration and Chicago Charm

29 December 2021

What do you get when you cross impeccable vintage style with a modern-day Soho House wedding? Courtney and Colin’s sensational wedding day, that’s what.

Courtney and Colin chose the super talented Melody Joy to capture their day; a photographer who splits her time between Edinburgh and Chicago. It’s in the latter, across the pond, that we find today’s inspiration.

When asked to describe the theme of the day, Melody explained it as “Vintage Everything / Solid Taste”, which we think is a very accurate description based on the gallery. “I loved all of the vintage pieces and their style. They also were so joyous and carefree – truly lighthearted gems of humans!” Melody says.

Courtney sells vintage clothing, so it was inevitable that her outfit was going to be incredible (you can find her at @thefaircourt over on instagram.)  For the first half of their Soho House wedding day, she chose a vintage babydoll dress in a checked, pastel-coloured fabric from Olivia Olivia GC, which she wore with pointed white court shoes from Plume Vintage and white elbow-length gloves. The pièce de résistance was a wide-brimmed white hat, organza flowers and a short chin-length veil, which trailed into a long, beautiful bow at the back.

Colin similarly brought the style with a blue houndstooth suit, a white shirt, and a pocket square made from the same fabric as Courtney’s dress. His wedding ring, too, was a striking blue, whilst Courtney’s was by Nadia Shelbaya.

After getting ready at Soho House, Courtney and Colin made their way to Beatnik On The River, the site for their intimate wedding ceremony. They chose to get married in The Jewelry Store, a breathtaking room that sparkles in every direction – it is, in fact, an entire 1913 Nashville jewelry shop that they reassembled piece by piece in the middle of the restaurant, featuring mirrored walls, original crystal chandeliers, and glass-fronted cabinets that once housed the precious jewels.

Then, it was time to head to the reception, with some stunning portraits taken on the way to ensure that their outfits had been given the exposure they deserved – before they changed into their evening outfits! Courtney wore a silky butter yellow tie shirt, finished off with feather cuffs, orange disco pants and blue platform heels, whilst Colin changed into a dark green patterned shirt.

They chose to eat their meal at Botánico Chicago, a space famed not only for its exceptional culinary fare but also for it’s Hollywood Regency-inspired decor. Taxa Flora had carried the colour palette and aesthetics through to the table decor, where they were served delicious food family-style. Each place setting featured a mini disco ball – a hint of what was to come later…

As well as having impeccable fashion sense, Melody explains “They have immaculate music taste!” Fittingly, then, the final location of their Soho House wedding day was DISCO Chicago, a nightlife sanctuary bringing the iconic disco vibes of the 1970s to the modern day. A wall to wall LED dancefloor, fur sofas, mirrored ceilings and a giant disco ball peacock chair all created the perfect atmosphere for the assembled guests to totally let loose and dance the night away.
