from an expert wedding planner –  Advice for a seamless and stress free wedding

6 December 2021

Though it’s totally normal to feel slightly frazzled when planning your day, ideally we want you to have a totally stress free wedding. And we want to help you get there too, which is why we’ve asked expert wedding planner Francesca Mash from Primrose Weddings for her advice for a stress free and seamless wedding…

“Wedding planning can be a bit of a two sided story. There will be elements you absolutely love and look forward to planning together and those you might find stressful or feel anxious about. And that’s totally understandable – it’s an incredibly important moment in your relationship, you’re putting a lot of work into the planning, not to mention spending a lot of money on the day.” she says.

“That’s why we’ve gathered our best advice to ensure your stress free wedding planning journey, and your day is as smooth and seamless as you dreamed.

The first key element is preparation.

When you begin your planning journey, take a moment together as a couple and really consider what you both have in terms of time to commit to planning. If you’re both super busy and struggling to fit everything in as it is, you might want to consider some additional planning support. For example, you might benefit from working with a planner or asking your most organised friend/family member for support.

The next step is to give yourself time in the lead up to your wedding day. You might be under a lot of pressure at work, but it’s so key to take a good amount of time off in advance to get some space and really mentally prepare for your wedding day. You may also have lots of friends and family arriving from all over the world to join you for the wedding, but it’s really important you give yourself some protected time to rest and finish up your final appointments before you get in the celebratory mood!

Just as you need time in the lead up to your wedding, you will also need to allow yourself plenty of time on the wedding day. When working with couples, we always recommend a later ceremony start time, ideally anything from 2pm onwards. The earlier the ceremony, the earlier you’ll have to wake up in order to fit in all the key elements of your wedding morning, such as hair and makeup, time to eat (so so key), getting dressed and your photographs. The more time you can give yourself on the morning of the wedding, the smoother and more relaxed the day will be.

The other key element to planning, to ensure a smooth and seamless experience are the people and teams around you.

As you progress through your planning journey, focus on building an incredible supplier team. Ensure you’re working with suppliers that you not only love, but totally trust to execute the day as you dreamed. The wedding industry is full of so many amazing suppliers but like with everything, everyone has their own way of working, so make sure to find suppliers that align with you and your day. With full trust in your supplier team, you can put all the planning aside and fully engage and enjoy your wedding day.

Use those around you. A lot of couples approach their planning together, with perhaps one-two other family members involved and quite often forget there are lots of people around them that want to be there for them and support their planning. As you get closer to your wedding, start to think about how your family and bridal party can help on the day. Providing clear directions to people you trust will take the pressure off you both and better ensure a smooth and stress free day.

The most important element to remember is you’re not alone in your planning. As you go through your planning journey, check in with each other to make sure you still feel you have enough time, or the right team to deliver the day as you dreamed. If you have any concerns along the way, reach out to your friends and family for their advice and explore options for professional support from a wedding planner who will be able to easily take over the reins and deliver the day you’ve always dreamed of. This should be an incredible experience for you both, full of fun, love and happy memories, so source the support you need to ensure it’s just that.”
