real wedding –  This Romantic, Design-Led Cambo Estate Wedding Weekend is the Ultimate Scottish Wedding Inspiration

9 December 2021

We defy you to read about Jennifer and James’ Cambo Estate wedding without breaking into a huge grin.

Palpable joy radiates from every single image in today’s blog: the sheer bliss of two people who have found their forever, and are celebrating in style.

And when we say in style . . . we mean it, big style! Jennifer and James chose Cambo Estate wedding venue as their location for the three day celebration; they got the house to themselves Friday to Sunday, and got married at Holy Trinity Church, St Andrew’s, on the Saturday morning.

“We didn’t really have a theme, but we wanted everything to feel luxurious and opulent to sit well within Cambo Estate.” Jennifer explains. “We thought at lot about how we wanted our guests to feel. We wanted them to feel like they were at a traditional wedding, but that they could also party like rock stars!”

Jennifer stunned in a high-necked glittery Berta dress, with a veil, a pearl headband, and cascading earrings to match. She also carried an all-white bouquet by Supernova Wedding Design, and they both took it in turns to take the lead of their adorable dog, too! After a stunning ceremony, the couple drove back to Cambo, which ended up being one of her favourite bits of the day: “One of my fave parts of the day was the drive back to Cambo from the church. Just James and I drinking champs repeating WE’RE MARRIED to each other!”

They greeted their returning guests with a champagne tower on the lawn, before mingling, taking photos, and sampling oysters too. “I had so much fun choosing all the little details, deciding on which glassware for the Champagne tower, or what plates we would use.” Jennifer explains. “We also wrote individual notes and left little gifts in everyone’s rooms and tents.”

The weekend kicked off with a big meal, courtesy of Regis Banqueting. “They did us a Hog roast on Friday,” Jennifer recalls. “Saturday started with a Scottish fry up before the ceremony. Then we had our canapés followed by the wedding feast! Loren Brand did our stunning cake.”

One of the (many) incredible things about Cambo  is how they perfectly blend opulence and extravagance with a totally easygoing, laidback attitude. An excellent example of this: “Our guests drank all our booze on the Friday, even after James gave a speech saying cut off would be 10.30pm as we had an early start at the church on Saturday!” Jennifer explains. “The lovely owners of Cambo Estate wedding venue popped out to buy us more booze with James’ bank card. We’ve since heard they were partying at the tents until 3am…”

After a delicious meal split across the dining room and bell tent, both decorated with luxurious white florals, and a rousing set of speeches (culminating in James dipping Jen at the top table, as an homage to her pro dancing career!), they took to the beach for some couples’ portraits with their photographer, Carla from Unbridled.

Then it was time to cut their cake and get on the dancefloor. One outfit change (a shimmery slip dress), a ceilidh, a confetti release and many hours of dancing later…

When we asked Jennifer for her top piece of advice, she said this: “Everyone says it, and I really tried not to, but don’t get too drunk on the day – you want to really remember it. Plus, really take time over the photos, and take your time walking down the aisle. I practically raced down there!”
