real wedding –  relaxed, style-led Ballintaggart Farm Wedding with Bon Bridé dress and bow

25 November 2021

Sileas and Sam’s Ballintaggart Farm wedding was everything they’d hoped it be: relaxed, carefree, and a day full of celebration with friends and family. It was also everything we love to feature, thanks to the gorgeous photos from their talented photographer, Harper Scott.

They actually got legally married in May, so this Ballintaggart Farm wedding in September was their second of the year. Sileas explains, “My granny is 93 years old and she lives on the Isle of Harris, where my mum’s side of the family are from. It was massively important for me that my granny be there on our wedding day (she asked specifically for a short engagement, and that’s what she got – we were married within 6 months of being engaged). What with Covid restrictions etc we decided to have a very intimate wedding ceremony in Harris with just our immediate families and my granny, [which] was really special. Although we were already married, the September celebration felt like the real deal with our proper wedding outfits and all the trimmings. It was a huge party really.”

It wasn’t just a huge party, but one with dreamy aesthetics, too. Sileas wore a breathtaking backless Bon Bridé dress with an oversized hair bow from Aura Bridalwear, whilst Sam chose a dapper tartan trouser and tweed jacket combo from Stewart Christie & Co. Using a fiery colour palette of oranges, reds, yellows and pinks, Nova Botanics created stunning floral arrangements that represented the final throes of summer, moving into autumn. These firework florals carried from Sileas and her bridesmaids’ bouquets to Sam and his groomsmen’s buttonholes; from the asymmetric ceremony decor as well as the dried grass and floral clouds that hung above the reception space.

Their reception tables were decorated with tall taper candles and linens in warm tones, as well as some beautiful Stock table stationery. Tis included the menu, created by the venue’s in-house catering team. Alongside the delicious food, of course, they chose Ballintaggart Farm wedding venue because it offered them the ultimate flexibility for their day. They started with their outdoor ceremony with Scotland’s natural beauty as the backdrop, finished with a rustic blank canvas reception space, and with spillover room outside to mingle and drink with 40 of their closest friends and immediate families, soundtracked by the Capella String Quartet, in the middle. “We really just wanted to ensure everyone had a good time and for it to be as relaxed and carefree as possible.” Sileas says.

Though it’s been a whole year since we launched the 2021 Annual, we still get the same joy when we hear couples saying they used it for their wedding planning. “We really loved the research stage.” Sileas continues. “I had been following The Wedding Collective for some time and when we started to plan the wedding Sam quickly bought me your Annual.  We loved listening to different wedding bands before deciding on the quartet. We also had some weird stroke of luck where everyone we contacted was available for our chosen day, so it felt like everything just slotted in so perfectly for us.”
