There are many iconic features of the London landscape, but perhaps none that compare to the River Thames itself, weaving as it does past so many of the famous buildings of The Big Smoke. With this in mind, a Thames wedding is a gorgeous idea for a day that’s not only an ode to your love story as a couple, but also to your love story with the capital too.
And it doesn’t get much more gorgeous than this luxury elopement inspiration today, brought to us by photographer extraordinaire Rebecca Searle.
This jawdropping Thames wedding shoot was “inspired by the potential of allocating a larger wedding budget to create a dream intimate wedding experience”, she explains. The couple got ready at the Four Seasons Hotel at Ten Trinity Square, a luxury hotel overlooking the Tower of London and Tower Bridge. Their styling was kept sleek and chic, pairing glossy Hollywood waves with an LBD, and then a neat bun for the all-white wedding look later.
The setup, featuring a table for two on the terrace, “proves that small occasions can be still be impactful”, Rebecca says. And it wasn’t just any table for two, either. “We wanted to create an intimate environment against the iconic view,” she continues, “so the couple stepped into their tablescape via a floral installation that provided a special and intimate setting just for them.” This floral installation was a huge, larger-than-life arrangement that looked as if it were growing from the ground itself, a full, textured thicket of artful, perfectly arranged blooms in elegant shades of white, cream, and green, courtesy of Paula Rooney.
Once they’d stepped through this floral wonderland, the bride and groom got to their table, set with Duchess & Butler crockery and delicious debossed menus from Ink & Paper, tied with a pearl-adorned bow. These sat alongside tall white taper candles and the single tier pastel-coloured Sugar Plum Bakes cake.
After this, it was time for the second part of this luxurious Thames wedding: a private speedboat trip! The Thames Limo is a private charterboat, providing personal cruises and intimate sightseeing trips in plush surroundings. You can see the city from a totally new perspective and enjoy a champagne toast as the sun sets around you – what better way to round off a Thames wedding than literally on the water?
