eco friendly wedding style –  How To Plan An Eco Friendly Wedding With Style

16 September 2021

Are you in the midst of planning an eco friendly wedding that you want to be as stylish as it is sustainable? Maybe you’re looking for eco friendly wedding suppliers who prioritise the earth, ethics and aesthetics, but don’t know where to start? Well, get your bookmarking and enquiring fingers at the ready, because this stunning editorial was made for you.

And we don’t just mean that figuratively – quite literally, in fact, this was exactly what photographer Sarah Joy Landon and planner and stylist Marigiulia Sella Weddings had in mind when planning this beach editorial. Their inspiration was something “both elegant and luxurious but 100% eco friendly. We both strive to use our work to promote an ethical attitude within the wedding industry, and so wanted to showcase some of the best British suppliers for couples who don’t want to give up on style whilst ensuring every aspect of their wedding is ethical and environmental friendly.” The Yorkshire coastline has never looked so good (even if they did get caught in a thunderstorm just beforehand…)

Sustainable bridalwear

First up, they knew that Rolling in Roses was the perfect bridal label for the occasion. Hayley’s dresses and designs perfectly blend contemporary style and vintage inspiration, whilst using sustainable, ethically produced, organic and eco-friendly fabrics. With the motto ‘minimal impact, maximum love’, the Adrenaline Dress is a simple but elegant bias-cut slip dress, and the perfect way to show how sustainability can be foundational to your wedding look.

The design’s V neck and plunging back was also the perfect frame to show off the delicate Elizabeth Terzza jewellery. “Elizabeth combines style and conscience into her nature-inspired jewellery collections.” Sarah Joy explains. “She’s committed to creating jewellery that is both beautiful and sustainable, using recycled precious metals and ethically sourced gemstones.” Model Mia wore a long necklace with a gold leaf pendant, and a ring with a beautiful gemstone set in it.

Cruelty free, earth-loving bridal beauty

Michelle from INDIRA at the Shepherd’s Purse in Whitby specialises in natural beauty and wellbeing for ethical-minded brides, and this shoot was no different. “Michelle draws inspiration from nature and the beauty of the breathtaking Yorkshire landscape.” Sarah Joy says. “Her philosophy is simple – romantic, elegant & ethical. She enhances your natural beauty by designing a look which fits you from the inside out, lovingly created from a 100% cruelty free kit of dewy bases and romantic pastel shades.” As well as her totally cruelty-free make up kit, she also plants a tree for every bride, to offset her carbon footprint.

Eco friendly wedding flowers

And of course, we couldn’t talk about this gorgeous beach shoot without discussing that beautiful bouquet. “Gem at Rock and Wreath has a passion for creating beautiful personal and bespoke floristry with a sustainable edge,” Sarah Joy notes.  She uses local British flowers to create her natural, seasonal arrangements, and her commitment to eco friendly wedding flowers also inspired her to start growing her own flowers (meaning she can grow specific flowers for your wedding plans.)
