wedding inspiration –  Vogue-inspired London elopement with Lisa Jane Photography and The Stars Inside

1 July 2021

So often, we equate elopements with misty mountainsides – but have you ever considered eloping in a city instead? Today we’re sharing the work of an expert team of brilliant suppliers who wanted to bring to life an intimate, style-led London elopement inspired by the archives of Vogue magazine. With three different setups, there’s a whole load of romantic editorial inspiration in here.

Valentina from The Stars Inside was behind the planning and styling of this chic editorial shoot. “A group of wedding creatives – small but fierce! – came together last December to bring to life this chic editorial: a New Year’s Eve elopement inspired by the archives of Vogue.” she explains. “We wanted to strike a playful, contemporary note with our styling, using a colour palette of black, red, and lots of tonal shades of nude and pink.”

They chose Gazelli House as their setting, a holistic skincare and treatment studio in the heart of Chelsea. With that in mind, Valentina explains that they “wanted this celebration to feel natural and beautiful both in style and substance – fabulous, inside and out. The balloons are eco-friendly, the ingredients of the grazing table are all locally sourced, the desserts and cakes are all vegan – and every element is a homage to the talents of small businesses. It’s all about celebrating in a mindful way, being present with a small group of loved ones, and enjoying the good, wholesome luxuries of life.”

Our brilliant directory member Lisa Jane Photography was behind the camera, immortalising all of the thoughtful details that came together to make this London elopement such a heartfelt day with her trademark warmth and emotion, and Rachel Takes Pictures shot some stunning film to go alongside.

The first vista was a sleek, understated inner city party vibe, kicking the party off with bespoke cocktails from The Cocktail Broker, accented by Caboodle Design tokens and signposted by Sundown Paper. They posed for photos by a Blooming Bubbles balloon wall before sitting down to enjoy a Garner and Graze grazing table as well as beautiful cakes and a full dessert table from Avant Garde Cake Studio. For maximum editorial inspiration, they chose big, blood red roses as the bouquet, wrapped with velvet ribbon from C Fleurs Design. Then, the team moved on to a more whimsical interpretation of the theme, with a glittering silver moon seat from The Little Wedding Warehouse and a crescent of gypsophila and roses springing up from the floor from Lilac and Lace Floral Design. The final look saw Joanna and Kieran take to the streets of London as night fell. We love the energy in those photos, with the bright, bold flashes of red from the veil, and the warm glow of the lights in the distance just adding to the romance.

As well as dreaming up the concept, all of the bridalwear was provided by A Lover’s Thread. Sophie specialises in taking vintage pieces and adding modern embellishments including intricate beading and personalised embroidery, which perfectly represented the shoot’s blend of iconic inspiration with modern, creative energy. We love how they were enhanced by Joanna’s effortless bridal beauty, courtesy of Portraits Bridal – we are big fans of a bridal ponytail! – and all of her accessories from BOTIAS. Add in earrings from Wolf and Moon and shoes from Emmy London, and Kieran’s suits from Aristocracy London, and you have the ultimate in style-led wedding inspiration.
