real wedding –  Alternative Autumnal Microwedding Planned in Just 33 Days

29 April 2021

Every wedding is really exciting, but it’s especially exciting when it’s wedding suppliers getting married themselves! Our wonderful directory members Steph and Joe – founders of vintage photobooth company Bygone Booth – got married in 2020, in an intimate ceremony that they planned in just 33 days, and was the perfect reflection of them and their love.

From the start, Steph and Joe knew they were going to do their wedding, their way. “I proposed to Joe in PJs whilst eating sushi,” Steph explains. “He initially thought I’d fallen over and then thought I was joking. I said “Do you want to marry me…in a month…cos I kinda have an idea?”

And what an idea it was! Obviously, Joe said yes – and they got to work. From proposal to wedding, the process took just 33 days, and culminated in a bright and beautiful autumnal wedding that was absolutely perfect. Steph wore her mum’s wedding dress from 1972 (after the wedding found out that her aunty Fran had also worn it at her wedding in 1973, making her the third in the family to wear it!) She found it in a BHS bag in the hall cupboard, as her mum had originally been planning on giving it to her auntie for scrap – luckily Steph scooped it up and saved it, working with Alis Le May to alter it but keep its ultra 70s bell sleeves, high neck, and cute mini skirt finish.

They chose The Pumpkin Patch at Arnprior Farm as the venue for their wedding, and woke up together on the morning of, sharing a coffee in the hot tub before going to get ready. Their intimate gathering of loved ones sat on hay bales wrapped in blankets as Steph walked down the pumpkin-lined aisle, meeting Joe in his hat and tails finery at the top. Lisa from Floral Ménagerie had also created a stunning bouquet featuring rich, warm tones of orange, pink and yellow.

After an emotional ceremony, it was time for impromptu speeches in a sheep pen on top of a picnic bench. “I made an individual toast for every person there.” Steph continues. “Joe followed and then my two nephews, and Joe’s brother/best man read his prepared speech later at the fire pit.”

They finished their gorgeous wedding in the very best way: fresh pizza from our pals at Dough Man’s Land, fire pits, and dancing under the stars, and sent round thank yous to their lucky guests designed by Com Bossa.

Congratulations Steph and Joe, you beauts! And if you’re looking for an original, alternative photobooth for your wedding, check out Bygone Booth’s profile here.
