real wedding – Gorgeous summer wedding at Petal and Feast’s Secret Barn

As the last of the summer rays begin to dwindle and we move well and truly into autumn, we wanted to share with you one last summer wedding smasher held at The Secret Barn, a gorgeous old barn run by Petal and Feast.

And as their name might suggest, the Petal and Feast ladies were also behind the summery flowers and also the grub at this rustic barn wedding. We have Jo Thorne Photography to thank for the gorgeous sunny images, too, so without further ado…

Jo and Sam got married in July (2019, obviously!) in a cosy ceremony at All Saints Chapel, Bunton, followed by a reception at The Secret Barn next door. The Secret Barn is a beautiful charismatic barn at the foot of The South Downs. The Petal and Feast gals describe it as a ‘proper barn’, by which they mean it’s on a ‘proper farm’ – a rustic, original-floored-and-beamed barn complete with a paddock, an orchard, a lawn and a firepit (and, some cows.)

To complement their beautiful authentic surroundings, Jo and Sam went for a rustic and relaxed theme, with wild flowers and vintage touches with modern twists. (This included a vintage car for the best man and usher to arrive at the ceremony in – but Jo told us this started billowing black smoke on the way to the church, so they had to abandon it on the motorway and only made it by the skin of their teeth!)

A big floral and foliage cloud hung from the middle of the barn roof, to match the wildflower arrangements on top of the long trestle tables, nestled amongst linen runners and tall taper candles. As well as running the venue, Petal and Feast provided the catering, including nibbles and sandwiches for the guests upon their arrival and delicious salads and sides for a rotisserie chicken later on in the day.

And it went from pudding to party, as Jo and Sam had ensured there was plenty of entertainment for themselves and their guests. They had not one but two bands – a brass band, and an evening band, and also had a gif photobooth too!
