When we spotted these previews on our wonderful member Wild Iris Studio‘s feed, we gasped.
The ethereal, 70s pastel wedding inspiration was a collaboration between what Nicola calls “the perfect girl gang dream team. “We shot it at the Eden Locke Hotel in Edinburgh, which is an absolutely stunning venue! I had seen pictures of the hotel before, but they didn’t do it justice – every corner you turn was like a magazine shoot, and we were all ooooohing and aaaahing all day long!”
In front of this perfect backdrop, the team made editorial magic themselves. The vibe was playful but grown-up, a modern, editorial take on ethereal. Their collection of Rowanjoy dresses and outfits that showcased florals like you’ve never seen before – watercolour-esque floral lace, beautiful embellished daisy fabric, frothy, puffy sleeves and a floral lace jumpsuit that firmly has our heart – was emphasised by metallic pastel makeup, and glossy lips by Claire Nisbet. Jayme Jamieson kept the hair voluminous but elegant, to provide the perfect base for the beautiful golden Saint Beth hair accessories they had.
Nicola brought these tessellating elements together with beautiful textured floral arrangements that were delicate yet wowing all at the same time. She mixed gypsophila and pale pink roses with fluffy blooms, dried grasses and beautiful milky leaves to create gorgeous bouquets perfect for a bride and a bridesmaid, as well as a bunnytail headband for a dried grass take on a flower crown. She also added some really simple but effective styling with scattered roses atop the draped pink fabric, creating a little styling corner that brought real wow.
All of this was captured by Aga, with an out-of-this-world soft focus that enhanced the glimmer and light caught from all of the metallic elements, and cemented the dreaminess.
All in all, we can see why Nicola and the team had such a fun day – and produced such magic too!
