RETRO FEEL, BOLD COLOURS AND BOHEMIAN VIBE FLORALS

I mean, we’re sold on that already, aren’t you? We’re thrilled to have Wild Iris Studio on the directory because she is bringing alllll the old-school, new-feel florals to the wedding scene. We chatted to Nic about her inspirations and her ‘Moho’ aesthetic – modern boheman, dontchaknow. Looking for a Glasgow-based modern wedding florist? She’s your gal.

WHO ARE YOU + WHERE ARE YOU BASED?

ild Iris is a studio florist based in Glasgow’s East End specialising in weddings, events and workshops. Wild Iris has a retro feel, bold colours and bohemian vibes.

DESCRIBE YOUR WORKPLACE.

I work form my studio space in Many studios, based in the Barra’s.

WHERE/HOW DID IT ALL BEGIN?

Becoming a florist and creating my own brand / business was something I had been dreaming about for a quite a while. After living down South and working in Visual Merchandising for a few years I decided to move back up to Glasgow, not having a job to go into made me decided it’s now or never!
I enrolled myself on a Floristry Career Course at the Flower School Glasgow and then Wild Iris was born.

FAVOURITE WORK TO DATE?

I think it has to be the first styled wedding shoot I collaborated on for the launch of Wild Iris. I finally felt like I had found my true passion and where I was meant to be in life. A bit of a eureka moment!! This was the moment when I felt like Wild Iris was actually a brand / business and not just a pipe dream or brain dump.

WHO/WHAT INSPIRES YOU?

Colour, texture and florals are the key aspects of what inspires me and my designs. I take inspiration form 60s/70s Bohemia for colour and style, everyday life, current trends and all aspects of art & design.
Personally I have to say my close friends and family are my main source of inspiration and motivation.

DESCRIBE YOUR TYPICAL DAY

I normally head straight to my studio, my day can be very varied depending whats going on. Some days are creative making bouquets, floral designs and mood boards for wedding consultations. Other days I do all the admin side of things emails, website updates and all the behind the scene bits & bobs.

WHERE’S YOUR FAVOURITE PLACE TO GO?

Iceland & Copenhagen are my top two Cities.

Glasgow – Botanic Gardens, Tramway, CCA, Paesano, BAAD and Grain & Grind.

Edinburgh – Lovecrumbs, Fruitmarket Gallery, Dishoom, and Arthur’s Seat.

FAVOURITE WEDDING VENUE?

Oh this is a really hard question as there is so many fab venues, at the moment I would have to say The Engine Works and BAAD.

TRENDS YOU HOPE TO SEE THIS SEASON

Moho for sure, this trend will be huge this year and I cant wait to see more weddings following this trend!!

BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU’VE EVER BEEN GIVEN?

What ever makes you weird is probably your greatest asset! 🙂
