real wedding –  modern graphic design wedding at Belair House with Nigel John

16 December 2019

It is taking everything in my being to not be typing this entire blog post in capitals, because I am SO IN LOVE with this wedding from Wedding Collective photographer Nigel John.

“Vicki is a London based Visual Artist and RCA Senior Lecturer, so her dress was always going to be a vision – and it didn’t disappoint. The origami-esque patterned black and white number was by Junya Watanabe x Comme des Garcons dress from Dover Street Market, which she wore with Westwood platforms and a playful pompom headpiece. Warren, a tech designer, kept it sleek and classic in a black suit and bowtie, with a standout buttonhole.

The couple wed, ate and partied at West Dulwich’s Belair House. The vibe was fun and effortless and aesthetic playful and graphic. The simple canvas of Belair House when detailed with their on point branding was a perfect mix. Guests enjoyed a fusion, where a traditional civil ceremony was preceded by a traditional Chinese tea ceremony.

Portraits took had a nostalgic edge as Vicki and Warren emulated the traditional chinese wedding photograph like those taken of her parents of grandparents.”

Let me count the ways in which we love this! Of course that dress is a winner in our eyes, but we also love the grown-up spin Vicki and Warren put on a graphic, colourful brief. Intricate origami place settings sat next to fortune cookies and a bright pink table plan all featured a cool twisted ribbon visual, tying the room together. We also adore the energy in these shots – so often dancefloor photographer is too static and frozen, but we can feel the floor thumping from here with Nigel’s incredible work. Look at Vicki’s feet FLY!
