minimalist bridal design –  Modern city bride outfits from Andrea Hawkes

14 November 2019

Prepare your eyes, body and heart for today’s blog, because we’re talking about modern, minimalist bridal outfits that are going to knock you for SIX.

Andrea Hawkes launched their 2020 designs in a brilliant event on the last week of October, and part of it was the Dovetail collection. The Dovetail Collection is a capsule selection of 4 contemporary bridal outfits that offer understated glamour for a modern bride – we’re talking minimalist shapes and sleek tailoring combined with the softest silks and feminine fabrics to create a look that’s effortless. We’d call them serious lust-after pieces if that didn’t make them sound unattainable; amazingly, although they are dreamy designs, they’re all designed in the heart of Islington, London, by expert craftspeople.

And speaking of the excellent craft, let’s dive into the designs without further ado. Dovetail was designed to really show off the tailoring and bespoke element of what Andrea Hawkes can offer, so the focus is on no-frills, all-thrills looks.

Everline

We’re starting with our fave, which is Everline – soft, buttery ivory-coloured leather. YEP! A leather utilitarian wedding dress! Can you imagine the scenes when you strolled out of the registry office in it…simply divine. The pockets, big buttons and feature collar all lend themselves to a bold, unapologetic statement, while retaining a refined, sophisticated elegance.

Addison

Continuing with the leather bridal, Andrea Hawkes have created the Addison. Comprised of high-waisted trousers and a sleek jacket in the same ivory shade, it’s a modern concept look for any bride. Paired with a blouse it’s an understated look that commands attention and oozes contemporary confidence.

Cora

We know what you’re thinking and yes: this dress has pockets! Told you we were catering for the modern bride, didn’t we? They’ve given the strapless bodice a present-day update, with a simple silhouette in abstract lace. A perfect base piece for building up, or letting it sing on its own.

Dakota

Dakota is another masterclass in simple, minimalist bridal. A plunging neckline and back, alongside sleek panelling detail make for modern lines and a clean look.

If you’re anything like us, you’re gonna want an Everline ordered for yourself like, yesterday, so head to Andrea Hawkes‘ profile for all the deets!
