MEET AGNES BLACK – A TIMELESS STORYTELLER, AND LOVER OF LOVE.
We’re pretty confident you’ve already fallen in love with the photographer Natalie from Agnes Black, but in the interests of being thorough, here’s why you should. She’s totally besotted with love too, head-over-heels for raw emotion, and like a magpie when it comes to finding the most incredible light. Her photos, much like her, are deliciously gritty with a soft and romantic edge, and her couples, like her, are total badasses. The stories she tells are worth seeing.
WHO ARE YOU + WHERE ARE YOU BASED?
I’m Natalie, the girl behind the lens at Agnes Black. I’m based in the North West but shoot all over the country and world.
DESCRIBE YOUR WORKPLACE.
When I’m not out shooting in studios, beautiful venues or epic locations I’m at home in the office. Im a bit of a neat freak so my space is super clean and tidy when my kids are not running wild in it!
WHERE/HOW DID IT ALL BEGIN?
Before I started photography I was on a completely different career path, one I also loved but wasn’t as passionate about. One day my then 5 year old told me I should do whatever makes me happy as I always tell her to do that. So, I took a chance, and now I have this beautiful and incredible little business that I absolutely adore.
FAVOURITE WORK TO DATE?
Ah you can’t ask me that! I don’t think I can choose any one wedding or shoot. I put a lot of my favourite work in my portfolio and on my instagram!
WHO/WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
I think inspirations comes from so much more than we realise. Especially when creativity is a driving force within us… I get a lot of mine from books, movies, music, travelling and the people I surround myself with.
DESCRIBE YOUR TYPICAL DAY
My days are crazy, between chasing round two kids, running a crazy busy business and making sure I make time for myself I don’t think there is a typical day for me!
WHERE’S YOUR FAVOURITE PLACE TO GO?
I could go anywhere in the world and do anything in the world however I think my favourite places would be the ones surrounded by my family, my friends and awesome people, no matter where that is.
FAVOURITE WEDDING VENUE?
Ah I have so many! I love elopements in beautiful places, I love urban white washed venues full of beautiful light, I love beautifully designed and chic manor houses…far too many to choose from.
BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU’VE BEEN GIVEN?
You get one life, do what makes YOU happy! I think I love this so much because it accounts for every situation. Not only that, but it’s something I always encourage in my children and my family.
