Supplier Spotlight –  Meet KILLER CITY SOUND

15 April 2018

NO BLACK SHIRTS AND RED TIES, JUST GREAT TUNES AND GOOD TIMES.

Meet Killer City Sound, the wedding band your parents warned you about. And if their warning was that they’re so bloomin’ good you have to book them or you’ll regret it, your ol’ folks are right. They’re a live band who play all the (good) classics, with the look and feel of a ‘real’ touring band. They hit you with all killer, and no filler – fresh, intense and engaging performances with infectious energy and incredible setlists. They’ve never played an event where the dancefloor hasn’t been full, which is quite a testimonial, don’t you think?

WHO ARE YOU AND WHERE ARE YOU BASED?

Killer City Sound – based in Glasgow, but will travel anywhere in the world!

DESCRIBE YOUR WORKPLACE

Our workplace is whatever stage we end up on that evening.

WHERE DID IT ALL BEGIN?

We were all at high school together and decided to form a band to take part in a Battle of the Bands that was going on. We finished runners up to the headmaster’s niece – a definite fix! Despite our loss we decided to continue as a band and have had an amazing journey since high school which has seen us open for the likes of Blondie and Westlife along the way.

FAVOURITE WORK TO DATE

We’re very proud of our medleys. They are an hour an a half of non stop music with songs mixing together seamlessly the way a DJ would do. It took us around two months to put the medleys together, selecting the right songs then working out a way to blend them all together – but it was worth it! The dance floor is always packed from the first note till the last as there is no gaps in the music to give people a chance to sit down.

WHAT INSPIRES YOU?

We all grew up listening to the music that our parents loved when they were young. Bands like The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, Thin Lizzy.

DESCRIBE YOUR TYPICAL DAY

No two days are the same. We’re either in the rehearsal studio learning songs for the weekend ahead or we’re on stage performing them.

WHERE’S YOUR FAVOURITE PLACE TO GO?

We love being in the recording studio having a jam. We can lock ourselves in for days on end and just play – this is where all our best ideas come from.

FAVOURITE WEDDING VENUE?

For the last three years running we have been the band for the Gleneagles Hogmanay party. It’s always been a great night!

TRENDS YOU HOPE TO SEE THIS SEASON

Less Ed Sheeran. Seems like a nice guy but it’s getting a bit boring now!

BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU’VE BEEN GIVEN?

Never let it stop being fun. This applies to absolutely everything you do in life.
